As a group of young conservationists, we aim to fix the problem, or at leastimprove the way people think aboutconserving. Not only doesconserving energy open a door for new innovations on how the world gains andmanages resources, but our 21-day pledge also offers those whom we can reach a chance to join forces and work together to accomplish goals andmaximze resources when it comes to
conservation . Through the use of newer communication technologies and efforts to expand awareness on this issue in our communities, we can create pathways for people toconserve energy in their everyday lives. By advocating a better understanding for conservation we hope to form new attitudes and behaviors that could lead to an increase inconservation. global_warming_by_teabing.jpg

Today we face the serious issue of global warming. This issue revolves around the fact that the carbon dioxide levels in Earth’s atmosphere keep increasing at a rather extreme rate. In the past thousand years, the carbon dioxide levels have never surpassed three hundred parts per million; however in today’s day in age, the carbon dioxide levels have reached six hundred, doubling the past levels. The source of these high levels is a direct result of fossil fuel consumption . Of the fossil fuel emissions, coal and petroleum are the leading contributors. To put this into simpler terms, these fuels are what keep your car running and the lights in your home on.

In light of these serious issues, the only possible way to improvethe quality of life for future generations is to slowly wean ourselves off of the habit of abusing fossil fuels. We are trying to positively impact the lives of people in our community by introducing them to alternative habits, which will help to promote environmental stability for the future. To promote this, we have created the 21-Day Pledge, where we have asked people to conserve energy in their own small way. We have chosen 21 days for this pledge because it has proven that the average person takes 21 days to form, or break a habit. It is our hope that with this pledge, we will convince people in the civis to take onsustainable living in their daily lives to positively promote society.
